Hammonton Fire Responds to Reported Chlorine Spill at Walmart

At approximately 11:40 a.m. on January 9, the Hammonton Fire Department was notified of a reported chemical spill believed to involve chlorine at the Walmart in Hammonton. Firefighters reacted quickly and remained on the scene to mitigate the problem. Upon arrival, staff began analyzing the situation and taking immediate procedures to control and manage the reported spill. No additional information on injuries or evacuations was available at the time of the response. According to social media posts and accounts from consumers at the area, there were indications that communication to police and firefighters was delayed. Those reports had not been independently verified at the time of this update.
