Alloway Township, NJ — January 8 — During the winter at Camp Edge, the Alloway Township Fire Company, based at 17 E. Main Street, trained in ice water rescue. Crews practiced methods for handling cold-water crises, which are common in rural and waterfront regions, using the ice that was available. Firefighters practiced victim contact and removal by practicing in controlled in-water scenarios and using throw bags to strengthen distance rescues. When working on unstable ice, collaboration, communication, and scene safety were prioritized. Members are better equipped to handle situations involving ponds, streams, and flooded regions during freezing weather thanks to this kind of training. Department representatives expressed gratitude to Camp Edge for granting permission to utilize the space, pointing out that practical training sites promote preparedness and safer operations for winter responses.
