Linden, NJ — January 19 — The Linden Fire Department honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, legacy, and enduring impact on public service on January 19. The goals of emergency services are strongly related to Dr. King's work, which placed a strong emphasis on justice, equality of treatment, and community responsibility. Residents from various backgrounds are served by firefighters and emergency medical services (EMS) professionals, who are trusted to respond to any situation with professionalism, respect, and care. In addition, he emphasizes the value of discipline, cooperation, and service outside of emergency situations, such as community outreach and fire prevention. Dr. King's legacy continues to remind emergency responders of their responsibility to save lives, assist neighbors, and serve the community with honesty and dedication as departments around the nation take time to reflect.
