On Thursday, January 16th, just before 1:30 p.m., Rio Grande Fire Company was dispatched as part of the first-alarm assignment to a reported residential structure fire in the 100 block of East Lincoln Avenue in Wildwood. When Chief 3 got there, he saw smoke coming from a two-story duplex. Quint 72 was dispatched to the event as part of Rio Grande Fire Company's initial response. With the help of North Wildwood Fire Department Ladder Company 2, Squad Company 3 (B Platoon) swiftly arrived and started an aggressive search for the fire's seat.

The crawlspace and floor space between the two flats were where the fire was found. In order to fully access and put out the fire, workers had to open the flooring in both units due to its location. In around twenty minutes, the fire was contained. For around 1.5 hours, Rio Grande units worked on the site alongside mutual-aid organizations. There were no reported injuries. Utilities were secured by Atlantic City Electric, South Jersey Gas, and the Wildwood Water Department. The incident remains under investigation by the Wildwood Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit and the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.
