The Fairfax Fire Department officially placed its new Engine 1 into service on the morning of December 14, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the department and the community it serves. Firefighters spent much of the day transferring equipment from the former Engine 1 to the new apparatus, while also retiring the department’s 1997 Engine 2 after nearly three decades of service. Over the past several months, an installation committee worked extensively to outfit the new engine, while department members completed more than 100 hours of combined training and hands-on installation time. That preparation included driver training and pump operations to ensure crews are fully ready to respond. The new Engine 1 represents an investment in safety, readiness, and reliability for Fairfax residents.
