December 24, 2025 — As steady snowfall blanketed the region on Christmas Eve, the Hinesburg Fire Department responded to a significant increase in motor vehicle crashes, slide-offs, and non-emergency calls for service across Hinesburg and St. George. Despite challenging road conditions and limited visibility, firefighters remained on duty throughout the night, assisting motorists, securing scenes, and ensuring public safety during the winter storm. Department officials noted that while many residents welcomed the white Christmas, the combination of snow-covered roads and holiday travel created hazardous conditions that required sustained response efforts. Firefighters emphasized the importance of cautious driving during winter weather and expressed pride in serving the community regardless of conditions—snow, sleet, rain, or sunshine.
