January 14 — Allamuchy, New Jersey: The Allamuchy Fire Department responded to an overturned tractor-trailer carrying heavy sheet metal coils by operating on Interstate 80 westbound near mile marker 18. The right and center lanes sustained significant damage as a result of the event. As a result, while emergency personnel worked the site, both right lanes of I-80 westbound were closed for a considerable amount of time. In order to control risks, secure the route, and assist with recovery efforts, firefighters worked in tandem with partner organizations. Traffic was rerouted to other routes while crews stayed in the area, causing major delays for drivers during the incident.
