Hampton, NH — 9th January — Residents are being reminded by Hampton Fire/Rescue, located at 140 Winnacunnet Road in Hampton, New Hampshire, that they may have less than three minutes to flee a home fire if a smoke alarm goes off. Every home, especially those with pets, ought to have a well-thought-out escape plan, according to fire officials.

The National Fire Protection Association advises creating a home escape map that identifies at least two exits from each room and includes all entrances and windows. A specific outdoor meeting spot that is securely far from the house should be clearly marked in the plans. To make sure everyone can move safely and confidently in a variety of situations, Hampton Fire/Rescue advises families to rehearse their escape plans at least twice a year, once during the day and once at night.
