MAYWOOD, NJ - At 7:26 P.M. on the evening of January 12th, the Maywood Fire Department was dispatched to 837 Palmer Ave. for the report of a possible basement fire. PD units arrived with smoke showing. Shortly after, Rochelle Park Chief Joe Deflaco arrived before Maywood units and confirmed a working fire.

Command reported a one-and-a-half-story, wood-frame with fire in the basement. Engine 18 arrived and stretched a line to the rear and front door and searches were underway. Interior crews reported to command a basement fire with extension to the first-floor.

With the quick response from the fire department, everyone made it out okay and the fire was placed under control at 7:59 P.M. Assistant Chief Roy DeYoung had all units back up not too long after. Mutual aid from Saddle Brook, Hackensack and Rochelle Park assisted on scene while companies from Paramus, Lodi and Garfield covered at firehouses.
