As 2026 begins, the East Burke Fire Brigade is reflecting on a historic and demanding year marked by growth, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to community safety. In 2025, the department responded to a record 115 incidents, including 75 calls within its primary coverage area, 25 automatic mutual aid responses with West Burke Fire, and 15 mutual aid calls assisting neighboring agencies. The year also saw the successful launch of a new shared coverage model between East and West Burke, ensuring faster, safer, and more reliable responses even during staffing shortages. With an average of six members responding per call, nearly nine minutes from dispatch to first apparatus responding, and more than 544 combined hours of training completed, East Burke Fire closed out the year stronger than ever and ready to continue serving the community in 2026.
