A crucial public safety alert from FireSafeCT about the use of fireworks and flame-producing devices in public spaces is being shared by the Danbury Fire Department. FireSafeCT is reminding locals and event planners that the unapproved use of pyrotechnics poses major risks to life and property in the wake of a recent deadly fire at a pub in Switzerland during a New Year's Eve party. According to Connecticut General Statute 29-357a, pyrotechnic special effects, such as fireworks, sparklers, fountains, or other devices, must have the appropriate permits, certification, and inspection. These regulations are in place to guarantee responsibility, safety, and adherence to state law. For advice and information on permits prior to use, residents and companies organising events using flame-producing effects are advised to get in touch with their local fire marshal.
