The Stratford Communication Centre received several 911 calls on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at around 3:06 a.m., reporting smoke and fire emanating from residential buildings around 27–35 Shoreline Drive. Assistant Chief Timothy Brennan of the Stratford Fire Department directed the deployment of a residential structure fire assignment.

When first-due companies arrived, the fire was spreading quickly from the original property to nearby houses on both sides. Due to the progression of the incident, the response was upgraded to a second-alarm assignment, bringing in remaining on-duty companies and additional staff officers.

In addition to establishing primary and secondary water supply, crews sought to stop the spread of the fire. Limited vision on the water-facing side of the structures affected operations. Every resident left the house safely. The American Red Cross was asked for help after two residents were forced to relocate. Additionally, Stratford EMS units were on the scene.

The Connecticut State Fire Marshal Office, along with the Stratford Fire Marshal's Office, is still investigating the cause of the fire. Heavy machinery was needed to help with overhaul operations because of significant fire damage and structural instability. The Bridgeport Fire Department and the Milford Fire Department provided station coverage during the incident. The Stratford Fire Department reminds residents to maintain working smoke detectors, practice home escape plans regularly, and call 911 immediately upon observing smoke or fire.
