Stratford Fire Department firefighters used the chilly weather on January 6 to practice ice rescue at Pecks Mill Pond. Members concentrated on response strategies meant to get people out of frigid water safely. The significance of preparation and appropriate equipment for successful results was stressed during training. For quick deployment in the event of an ice emergency, all Stratford Fire equipment is outfitted with throw ropes, life jackets, and cold-water rescue suits. Crews continued to work hard during the session despite the cold temperatures.
