Call Volume Nears Record as Arkport Crews Stay Busy

Between December 24 and December 27, Arkport Hose Co. #1 Inc. responded to two emergency medical situations. Crews were called to the 7000 block of Airport Road in the Town of Hornellsville on Wednesday, December 24 at 6:21 a.m. to assist a female patient who was having problems due to her diabetes. The patient was reportedly pregnant and had recently contracted the flu. After receiving fluids, the patient's blood sugar levels stabilised. Hornell City Ambulance approved the patient's refusal to be transported. Car 2 and Medic 2 reacted. Units were sent to Meadows Park in the Town of Dansville on Saturday, December 27 at 3:07 a.m. to treat a male patient who had vision issues and may have had a stroke. ALS was cancelled upon arrival, however Dansville Ambulance and Livingston County ALS were also sent. Dansville Ambulance was used to transport the patient. Arkport units responding included Medic 2, Car 2, Car 201, and Car 202. As of this week, the department has responded to 180 calls for the year.
