Car Slams Into House and Overturns Trapping One.

Shirley N.Y.-– On January 11, 2021 at about 12:25 AM the Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services (FRES) activated the Mastic Beach Fire Department and Mastic Beach Volunteer Ambulance Company for a report of a vehicle crash into a house on Floyd Rd South of Chanel Dr. Mastic Beach Ambulance Assistant Chief TJ Falah as well as 1st Responder Rich Tvelia arrived on the scene to find the vehicle had struck the house and was overturned and the driver was still trapped.
FRES advised Mastic Beach FD Chief Fred Loiacono and Assistant Chief Jeff McGown of the updated info from police and EMS about the vehicle being overturned with 1 still trapped inside. The Chiefs relayed that info to Rescue 4. Upon arrival crews from Rescue 4 and Engine 3 worked side by side with EMS to extricate and provide patient care. Upon extrication the driver was taken to an awaiting ambulance which transported him to Long Island Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The occupant of the home was not injured in the incident however due to the damage to the house Chief Loiacono requested the Brookhaven Town Building Inspector to the scene. Suffolk Police 7th Precinct and ESU officers were on scene. According to a police media release the 19-year-old driver was taken into custody and charged with DWI.
