The Ballston Spa Fire Department and the Greenfield Fire District were called to a reported structure fire in the Town of Greenfield on the evening of January 6. According to early accounts, there was a burning car inside an adjoining garage. The chief who arrived first verified that the fire was operational and asked for a second alarm. The fire was effectively contained to the garage area when the first-arriving engine company swiftly deployed handlines and put out the majority of the flames. As a consequence, only smoking conditions caused damage to the house.

For around two hours, crews worked on the spot to finish overhaul, ventilation, and suppression tasks. Mutual aid assistance was provided by South Glens Falls Fire Company, Saratoga Springs Fire Department, Wilton Fire Department, Corinth Fire Department, Rock City Falls Fire Department, and Greenfield EMS, with support from the Town of Corinth and Day.
