The Hammonton Fire Department started 2026 with an early request for assistance involving an animal rescue, following more than 600 calls in 2025. A cat stuck within a storm drain was the department's first emergency of the new year. Firefighters arrived on scene and worked carefully to access the confined space while ensuring the animal’s safety. The cat was safely removed and returned to its owner by the crews.
