An engine from Swissvale Firefighters IAFF Local 1680 was called to help West Mifflin Fire Department Homeville Station 293 at a residential structure fire just before three in the morning on January 4.

The West Mifflin Police Department reported a completely engaged structure as soon as they arrived on the site. Swissvale Engine 1 helped with suppression efforts and installed around 650 feet of supply line to the Charlie side of the house. Crews operated multiple attack lines and used both a step gun and the deck gun from Engine 1 to support fire control efforts. Before heading back to the borough, the Swissvale units were on the site for a little more than two hours. Penn Hills VFD #7 sent a standby crew to keep coverage in Swissvale as firefighters worked at the scene.
