Oakhurst, NJ — December 29 — Yesterday morning, the Oakhurst Independent Hose Company No. 1 responded to a second alarm of a structure fire in Monmouth Beach using Ladder 191. As part of a planned regional response, Ladder 191 worked with many mutual help departments. Companies that arrived first set up shop fast and made good strides in containing the fire. To support ongoing operations and firefighter safety, incoming units offered more personnel, ladder support, and coverage.
According to department authorities, early control by the first crews prevented the situation from getting worse and made it easier for mutual aid organizations to get involved. During the response, no firefighter injuries were reported. The incident demonstrated the importance of preparation for mutual help along the coast, and organizations collaborated seamlessly throughout the operation.
