Hope, NJ — December 18 — As strong gusts persisted throughout the region, the Hope Volunteer Fire Department cautioned drivers and emergency personnel to drive carefully on local roads. According to officials, the weather made it more likely that downed trees, limbs, and electricity lines would interfere with travel.

As winds continued, department personnel monitored road conditions and responded to weather-related calls. Drivers and rescue personnel may be put in danger by falling trees and power lines, especially on secondary roads, according to fire officials. Drivers were advised to slow down, stay vigilant, and stay away from places with wires or debris. Additionally, residents were warned to avoid downed electrical wires and to notify utility companies or emergency services of any risks.
