Asbury Park, New Jersey — December 19 — A reported working fire in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue prompted the Asbury Park Fire Department, with its headquarters located at 800 Main Street, and its automatic assistance partners to respond to a box alarm. A full box reaction was prompted by early reports of active fire conditions. As inbound units staged and got ready for assignment, Asbury Park Fire Command took command of the situation. In order to help with personnel, fire suppression, and sustaining coverage throughout the city, automatic aid companies reacted.
As situations were evaluated and controlled, crews worked under the incident command system. Until command decided that operations could be scaled appropriately and resources could be modified, units stayed on the scene.
