Colonia, NJ — December 9 — The Colonia Volunteer Fire Department responded to a second alarm structure fire affecting a commercial facility in the City of Carteret as part of a mutual aid assignment. When Colonia units arrived, they were paired with personnel from the Carteret Fire Department and other mutual aid organisations to help with fire suppression.
In order to manage fire conditions and assist with coordinated inside and outdoor operations, firefighters operated within the incident command structure. Colonia staff helped with overhaul after knockdown to identify and eliminate any residual hot spots. After working for a few hours, the crews were let go and went back to their lodgings. There were no reported injuries involving Colonia employees. During complicated commercial fire situations, the reaction showed ongoing regional coordination.
