New Brunswick, NJ — January 1 — There was a reported structure fire on Plum Street, between Hartwell Street and Hamilton Avenue, and City of New Brunswick Fire Department units were responding to it. When crews arrived, they assessed the building's conditions and started fire suppression operations.
To assist scene safety, ventilation, and interior operations, more resources were allocated. Firefighters sought to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building. Drivers were instructed to stay away from the area during operations, and traffic control measures were put in place. No injuries were reported right away. Firefighters stayed on the scene to finish suppression, perform overhaul, and start a standard investigation into the fire's origin.
