Avenel, NJ — December 27 — Due to a reported vehicle fire, Avenel Fire Department personnel were sent to Leesville Avenue. Crews found a car with a well-involved engine compartment fire when they arrived.

In order to contain the fire and stop it from spreading beyond the engine area, firefighters swiftly extended a 1¾-inch assault line and started suppression operations. To finish the overhaul and make sure the fire was completely put out, crews stayed on the spot. The scene was secured and given to the department's Fire Prevention Bureau for additional examination when activities were finished. There were no reported injuries. Members of the Woodbridge Township Professional Firefighters Association assisted with the reaction, and coordination was maintained in the Mercedes Textiles area.
