Fatal MVA on State Route 9W in Town of Newburgh

On Friday morning, December 26, Town of Newburgh Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Route 9W in the area of AGL Welding. Middlehope FD and Town of Newburgh EMS responded with three ambulances. Medics requested a medevac for one of the drivers.
A landing zone was set up in the old ShopRite parking lot on State Route 32. Middlehope and Cronomer Valley Fire Departments established the landing zone, and the medevac landed. The patient was transported to the landing zone by Town of Newburgh EMS and was being stabilized prior to flight.
The medevac departed the area, and EMS transported the patient to Montefiore St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was declared DOA. Town of Newburgh EMS also transported two other individuals to the hospital.
State Route 9W was closed while Town of Newburgh Detectives and the ID Unit were on scene. The New York State Police Reconstruction Team was called to reconstruct the scene. Town of Newburgh Police are investigating the cause.
