ELIZABETH, NJ - Under the direction of Anthony Kastros and Brian Brush, President Bialas and Brother Wirkus attended Mastering Fireground Command: Calm the Chaos Train-the-Trainer on behalf of the Elizabeth NJ Fire Officers IAFF Local 2040. The curriculum was the first open-enrollment instructor class offered by Trainfirefighters.com, and it quickly filled up due to the high demand for advanced fire officer education. Command decision-making, coordination, and communication between incident commanders and operational companies were the main topics of the course. In order to increase civilian survival while lowering needless risk for firefighters, instruction focused on vigorous but deliberate approaches. Bridging the tactical divide between companies operating on the fireground and leadership personnel was another topic covered in the training.
