Carlstadt FD reported that in October, members were issued and trained on the Petzl EXO AP, a personal escape system provided through instruction from Fireground Technologies. The equipment, commonly referred to as a bailout system, offers firefighters a critical emergency option should a rapid exit from a structure become necessary.
According to the department, the EXO AP enables a controlled descent, giving firefighters an additional layer of protection during high-risk interior operations when seconds can determine survival. Members participated in hands-on familiarization and deployment exercises to ensure comfort and proficiency with the system.
The Carlstadt FD expressed appreciation to its governing body for continuing to invest in safety-focused equipment and training, noting that such support strengthens both firefighter readiness and community protection.
