Leverett, MA — October 8 — Leverett Fire/EMS hosted its annual open house on Thursday, welcoming dozens of local residents to the department's facility at 95 Montague Road. The gathering provided residents with the chance to interact directly with firefighters, gain insight into departmental operations, and examine newly acquired apparatus. During the tour, attendees inspected the department's latest engine/tanker and rescue vessel, engaging with personnel to discuss their specific capabilities and deployment strategies during emergency response scenarios.
In addition, firefighters disseminated critical safety guidance addressing prevalent hazards inherent to the autumn and winter months. This outreach initiative facilitated a focused dialogue on seasonal fire risks, enabling the sharing of essential preparedness strategies to assist residents in mitigating emergency threats during the colder season.
Furthermore, the event facilitated opportunities for department personnel to establish contacts with new residents, address inquiries, and reinforce their bonds with the community they serve. The Leverett Firefighters Association enhanced the open house by supplying cider and donuts to guests, thereby transforming the annual gathering into a true community affair that welcomed both families and residents.
The Leverett Fire and Emergency Medical Services department delivered comprehensive fire suppression, emergency response, rescue operations, and fire prevention initiatives to the town. Furthermore, the unit extended its capabilities to adjacent municipalities by providing mutual-aid support upon request. The yearly open house offered community members an intimate glimpse into the department's operational assets, staffing, and pivotal contributions to local emergency response.
