Glassboro Fire Department

The Glassboro Fire Department is a combination paid/volunteer department with career firefighters on duty 24/7/365. They employ around 20 career firefighters and 12 volunteers protecting a population of 23,000 residents in an area of 9 square miles. The Glassboro Fire Department was formed in 1896. Glassboro is first due to Rowan University. The Glassboro Fire Department has automatic aid as well as mutual aid agreements in surrounding towns such as, Washington Township,  Pitman, Harrison Township, Clayton, and Elk Township. The department also hosts a live-in program for Rowan University students. 


The Borough of Glassboro’s Firefighters respond to emergencies including fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, technical rescues, medical assistance and large scale events held in Glassboro. They are an organization of dedicated professionals who are committed to serving the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention, education, emergency medical, civil defense and fire service. 


The department responds out of one fire station located centrally in the Borough. It is located at 27 East High Street and was constructed in 1981, but has had many additions and updated features.

Engine 26, a 2001 Spartan / Smeal 1250/850


Ladder 26, a 2010 Spartan Gladiator / Smeal 2000/300/100' rear-mount platform


Squad 26, a 2017 Pierce Enforcer PUC 1500/500
