— October 17–18, 2026 — Firefighters from four New Hampshire departments received hands-on heavy-animal rescue training at the MSPCA-Angell facility at Nevins Farm in Methuen, assisted by Reed Truck Service.

Firefighters from the Lempster, Troy, Keene, and New Ipswich departments participated in training on safely handling and rescuing horses during emergencies.

The drills included scenarios where a horse might be trapped in a ditch, stuck in mud, or unable to rise without help. Firefighters rehearsed approaches for managing large horses, focusing on safe relocation methods.

Trained by MSPCA-Angell staff at Nevins Farm, the Equine Safety and Ambulance Program offers specialized rescue education for first responders and emergency personnel.
