Antrim, N.H. — October 16 — Personnel from Antrim Fire and Ambulance Services conducted an annual Fire Prevention Week initiative at Antrim Elementary School, where they delivered comprehensive fire safety instruction and facilitated interactive, practical learning exercises for the student body.

Younger students were provided with foundational instruction on fire safety, emphasizing the critical role of smoke detectors and the necessity of developing a family evacuation plan. During the session, firefighters outlined essential emergency preparedness strategies for households, underscoring the imperative for every family member to identify at least two distinct exit routes from their residence.

Kindergarten pupils were afforded the chance to venture outdoors and inspect a fire engine. This excursion enabled them to observe the apparatus firsthand and gain insight into the specialized equipment utilized by firefighters during emergency operations.

During Fire Prevention Week, third and fourth-grade students explored the theme, Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower. Their curriculum addressed proper charging protocols for lithium-ion batteries, the power sources behind numerous daily essentials such as smartphones, tablets, toys, and electronic devices.

Every student was furnished with fire prevention resources to distribute within their households, thereby extending the outreach of Antrim Fire and Ambulance's steadfast dedication to community education and fostering a deeper comprehension of fire safety among the younger demographic.
