Uncasville, CT — October 17 — The Mohegan Fire Company convened a comprehensive townwide training session dedicated to vehicle extrication and stabilization, uniting firefighters from various departments across the Montville area for an intensive morning of practical instruction.
The session, conducted by Mark Waters, delivered specialized instruction on vehicle extrication protocols and operational methodologies applicable to motor vehicle incidents. This exercise afforded firefighters the opportunity to reinforce essential competencies, deepen their technical understanding, and refine procedural execution when responding to vehicular accidents involving trapped occupants.
The participating entities comprised the Mohegan Fire Company, the Montville Fire Company, the Oakdale Fire Department, the Chesterfield Fire Company, Laurel Hill Volunteer Fire Company No. 6, the Occum Fire Company, and career firefighters employed by the Town of Montville.
In the realm of technical rescue, vehicle stabilization and extrication constitute critical components of the operational framework. Effective stabilization serves to mitigate the risk of inadvertent vehicle displacement, thereby ensuring a secure environment while emergency crews access and evacuate occupants. Furthermore, rigorous training underscores the necessity of comprehensive scene assessment, hazard mitigation, proficient equipment utilization, and seamless coordination among rescue personnel.
Despite the inclement weather, firefighters assembled on Sunday morning to dedicate their efforts to training and honing their competencies. The participating departments extended their gratitude to Waters and to every attendee, a gathering that underscored the indispensable worth of collaborative training, the exchange of professional insights, and unified cooperation among the fire companies dedicated to the Town of Montville.
