Jefferson, N.H. — October 24, 2026 — On Saturday, firefighters from four municipalities in New Hampshire convened in Jefferson for a four-hour pump operations training session aimed at enhancing their abilities to control water supply during emergency situations.

The Jefferson Fire Department hosted the practical session, which employed NESTA's simulator-based training system to provide participants with realistic fireground scenarios and hands-on practice with fire pump operations.

Jefferson, Dalton, Lunenburg, and Milan were among the departments represented. Firefighters practiced several aspects of pump operation, including as operating protocols, hydraulic calculations, discharge pressures, and pump principles.

Participants were able to hone their knowledge of water movement, pressure control, and pump controls while practicing realistic pumping scenarios in a safe setting thanks to the simulator.

Both novice operators laying the groundwork and seasoned firefighters seeking to advance their abilities were the target audience for the training. Through classroom instruction, practical equipment work, and simulator exercises, NESTA, or Northeast Simulation Training Associates, offers fire service training throughout New England.

The Jefferson Fire Department expressed gratitude to the instructors for imparting their expertise and real-world experience to the participating firemen.
