Abington, Mass. — October 29, 2026 — Abington Fire Department paramedics engaged in high-fidelity airway management simulation training, rehearsing techniques for handling one of emergency medical care's harder challenges: a contaminated or obscured airway.

Critical Airway delivers a course that builds paramedic proficiency in airway emergency management through evidence-based teaching and simulation, focusing on handling blood, vomit, and other secretions.

The training featured scenarios aimed at testing providers' skill in managing a patient's airway when visibility is restricted. The department observed that the training images featured a manikin displaying artificial blood and secretions.
