Vista, N.Y. — October 11, 2026 — Members of the Vista Fire Department took part in a driver training session Sunday morning as they worked toward becoming qualified to operate Engine 142.
The department’s driver training program prepares members to operate fire and EMS apparatus. Trainees complete several hours of driving practice behind the wheel of each vehicle before receiving approval to serve as drivers.
Training includes an overview of apparatus equipment and instruction on operating the pump panel on fire engines. Members begin with Utility 256, then progress to the ambulances, Engine 142, Engine 141, and Tanker 4.
