Bedford Hills, N.Y. — October 12, 2026 — Bedford Hills firefighters, Katonah-Bedford Hills EMS, and Westchester EMS responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on McLain Street near 60 McLain Street Monday evening.
The call came in at about 5:30 p.m. Westchester EMS unit 45M1 reported that one patient required extrication. When Engine 199 arrived, firefighters assessed the scene and developed a plan to reach the patient safely.
Access was limited because the vehicles were positioned close together, with a rock wall along one side. Crews from Engine 199 and Rescue 10 used the engine’s winch and a snatch block to move one vehicle away from the other, creating more room for patient access.
Firefighters then assisted EMS personnel with the extrication. The patient sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
Crews also addressed fluid spills and assisted the tow truck during cleanup. Responding units included Engine 199, Rescue 10, Utility 6, Deputy Chief 43, EMS units 45M1 and 65B1, and Bedford Police.
