Bedford Hills, N.Y. — October 16, 2026 — Members of the Bedford Hills Fire Department reached more than 800 children during Fire Prevention Week 2026, visiting local schools and community groups to share fire safety lessons and emergency preparedness information.
The department’s outreach centered on the national theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower!” Firefighters discussed smoke alarms, home escape plans, and ways to stay safe during an emergency. Visits included Bedford Hills Elementary School, the Town of Bedford Senior Group, Country Children’s Center of Bedford Hills, A Kid’s World Childcare, and West Patent Elementary School.
The department concluded its Fire Prevention Week activities with its annual open house on Sunday, October 11. Despite rainy weather, community members visited the firehouse for live demonstrations, fire truck rides, face painting, refreshments, and family activities.
