Jefferson Hills, PA - Daytime personnel from Jefferson Hills Fire-Rescue visited Gill Hall Elementary School on Friday as part of local community outreach for Fire Prevention Week.

The educational visit took place on Friday, October 9, 2026, giving young students an opportunity to interact directly with frontline emergency personnel.

Firefighters led age-appropriate presentations focusing on foundational life-safety habits, teaching children how to recognize common household fire hazards, when to dial 911, and how to execute a safe home escape plan during an emergency.

In addition to classroom safety discussions, crews demonstrated the specialized personal protective gear and apparatus tools firefighters carry during structural operations, helping demystify the gear so children feel comfortable seeking help from a firefighter in full turnouts during an active incident.
