Springville, N.Y. — October 18, 2026 — Springville Volunteer Fire Department led a multi-agency training exercise on Saturday morning on Franklin Street, involving neighboring fire departments and emergency service partners in rescue scenarios.
Search and rescue, victim extrication, aerial ladder operations, emergency communications, incident command, and personnel accountability formed the core of the exercise focus.
Firefighters and rescue personnel practiced various simulated scenarios with victims trapped inside a building. In a particular test, a person was placed in a Stokes rescue basket, taken out of an upper-floor window, and lowered to the earth via an aerial ladder truck.
Victims simulating injury were escorted out of the building by the front entrance and taken to ambulance crews awaiting outside for treatment.
