Seaford, N.Y. — October 24 — The Seaford Fire Department convened its annual Fire Prevention Open House, an initiative designed to engage community members through a program centered on fire safety and public education.
The department extended its gratitude to the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office for its participation in the event, specifically highlighting the deployment of its K9 Investigations Unit and Unmanned Aerial System (Drone) Unit.
This involvement afforded attendees a unique opportunity to gain insight into the specialized assets utilized during fire investigations and emergency response operations.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office supervises a range of public safety mandates, encompassing fire investigations and its dedicated Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Drone Unit.
This operational scope is formally reflected in the office's published unit directory, which categorizes the drone unit as an integral component of its fire service resources.
Community open houses provide fire departments with a vital opportunity to engage directly with residents beyond the context of emergency responses.
Furthermore, these prevention-focused events serve as an effective platform for disseminating actionable safety knowledge, fostering an environment where inquiries are welcomed, and cultivating a deeper familiarity with the operational protocols of local fire services.
Operating as a volunteer agency, the Seaford Fire Department delivers fire protection and emergency medical services while facilitating mutual aid to neighboring departments.
All operations are coordinated from headquarters located at 2170 Southard Avenue, where the department serves the Seaford Fire District.
This yearly gathering furthered the department's community engagement initiatives by uniting firefighters and county fire service assets with local residents.
