Seaford, N.Y. — October 9 — Personnel from the Seaford Fire Department conducted a fire prevention program for students at St.William the Abbot School.
This visit afforded firefighters the chance to engage students in dialogue regarding fire safety, thereby equipping them with practical measures to ensure their security within both domestic and educational environments. Such school engagements, particularly during Fire Prevention Month, enable emergency service agencies to disseminate critical safety knowledge to youth and foster their ability to identify prevalent fire hazards.
Essential fire safety protocols frequently emphasize the necessity of maintaining functional smoke alarms, identifying two distinct exit routes from any given room, and designating a specific outdoor rendezvous point for family members.
Furthermore, educational initiatives empower students with critical survival techniques, such as crawling low beneath smoke to avoid inhalation hazards and employing the "stop, drop, and roll" method should their attire ignite.Such measures are standard components of comprehensive school-based fire safety curricula.
Situated at 2001 Jackson Avenue in Seaford, St. William the Abbot School caters to the immediate community while facilitating vital engagement between firefighters and students through targeted prevention education initiatives.
Functioning as a volunteer fire and EMS agency, the Seaford Fire Department delivers emergency services and community safety outreach programs. Headquartered at 2170 Southard Avenue in Seaford, New York, the department maintains its operational base at this location.
