Wellsville, N.Y. — October 14 — Members of the Wellsville NY Volunteer Fire Department continued their community fire prevention efforts by visiting Trinity Lutheran Church on North Main Street, which houses a preschool group and daycare services.

Three firefighters attended the event, with Wellsville 1 and Wellsville 2 on display for the children and staff. Approximately 16 children and four to five staff members participated in the visit. Assistant Chief Kevin Fleischman led the presentation, helping introduce young children to the fire department and the importance of fire safety.

The visit provided the department with an opportunity to connect with families and childcare staff while reinforcing fire prevention at an early age. Community visits also help children become more familiar with firefighters and emergency apparatus.

Trinity Christian Daycare is a licensed daycare center located at 470 North Main Street in Wellsville, as listed by New York State’s Office of Children and Family Services.

Fire safety education remains a key part of prevention efforts. The New York State Education Department identifies fire prevention and life safety instruction as essential ways to help children learn how to reduce fire risks and respond to emergencies. The October 14 visit continued Wellsville firefighters’ outreach to local schools and childcare groups, supporting public education alongside their emergency response duties.
