China, ME — October 16 — Members from the China Village Volunteer Fire Department, the South China Fire Department, and the Weeks Mills Fire Department visited China Primary School to conduct a fire prevention program for students and staff.

The firefighters shared important fire safety tips, demonstrated their trucks and equipment, and helped students better understand the role of local emergency responders. Sparky, the fire safety mascot, also joined the event and helped make the visit fun and engaging for the students.

The program allowed students to get a close look at firefighting equipment while learning why fire prevention and emergency preparedness are essential both at home and at school.

The three fire departments serve different areas within China, Maine, and collaborate on community safety initiatives.

The town's emergency services information emphasized the importance of public education in helping residents understand fire safety and the efforts of local volunteer firefighters.

These school visits also provided firefighters with an opportunity to connect with young community members and share safety messages in a manner that is suitable for their age. Students could take these lessons home and talk about emergency plans with their families.

The departments’ involvement showed their continued dedication to community outreach in addition to their emergency response responsibilities. The firefighters expressed their gratitude to China Primary School's students and staff for participating in the program and supporting local fire prevention efforts.
