On Thursday October 8th, 2020 Melrose firefighters trained with deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Marine Operations/Underwater Recovery Team (MOURT) and soldiers from Florida Army National Guard CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package (CERF-P) on water rescue operations in Lake Santa Fe, in Melrose, Florida. During this joint training evolution each team provided a brief on team equipment, training & SOP’s that was followed up with a water rescue scenario that involved all three teams. Melrose firefighters were responsible for performing an initial water rescue of a survivor & marking the area of a simulated boating accident. Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deployed the dive team members using boats from CEFR-P and the MOURT team. Multiple diver insertions were performed during the training event, which lasted for about three hours.
