— October 7, 2026 — More than 400 students and 28 adults took part in a hands-on fire prevention program at Clermont Elementary School, where the Lancaster County Firemen’s Association brought its Fire Safety Simulator to help teach emergency response skills.
The program gave students an opportunity to learn how to respond to different fire and smoke situations in a controlled setting. Lessons included blocking the bottom of a door to help keep smoke out, checking a door for heat before opening it, and responding to common kitchen and outdoor grilling fires.
According to Robert Fulton Fire Company’s October 7 update, 405 students and 28 adults went through the simulator during the program. The department thanked Clermont Elementary School and the Lancaster County Firemen’s Association for helping make the event possible.
The association operates its Fire Safety Simulator as a mobile educational resource for schools, community groups and member emergency service organizations. The trailer uses realistic demonstrations to teach fire prevention, hazard awareness and emergency actions in a supervised environment.
