Gorham Responders Trained With Mutual Aid Partners

Berlin, NH — September 16 — Gorham NH Fire & EMS personnel participated in a multi-agency training exercise alongside mutual-aid partners and Androscoggin Valley Hospital on September 16. The training took place in the area of Hutchins Street, Success Pond Road, and Page Hill Road in Berlin.

The exercise involved a simulated emergency situation, allowing firefighters, EMS workers, and hospital staff to practice working together and communicating effectively.

There was no real emergency, and the activity was carried out as a planned training event.

The training focused on the coordination needed when fire, EMS, and hospital personnel respond to a complicated incident.

Androscoggin Valley Hospital later shared that a similar exercise took place on September 17 at the same location, involving local fire and EMS departments, law enforcement, and hospital staff. This scenario tested the response process from the field to the hospital emergency department.

Gorham Fire and EMS serves as the main 911 responder for Gorham, Randolph, Shelburne, and surrounding areas.

They also support neighboring communities through mutual aid arrangements. The department offers EMS training and assists with firefighter rehabilitation during long or complex incidents.

The September 16 training gave responders practical experience working with partner agencies in a controlled environment.

Regular joint training helps agencies review procedures, communication methods, and roles before they are needed during a real emergency.
