Somersworth D Shift Completed Stabilization Training

Somersworth, NH — September 22 — Somersworth Professional Firefighters Local 2320 started its yearly stabilization and extrication training program with the D Shift members. The training was planned to continue throughout the week as different department shifts carried out exercises involving vehicle stabilization and extrication.

Dan Felix from Firematic conducted the annual training session.

Firefighters used stabilization equipment and practiced the procedures used during vehicle rescue operations. The exercises concentrated on proper equipment placement, stabilizing damaged vehicles, and setting up for safe extrication.

Firematic's Res-Q-Jack equipment is specifically made for vehicle stabilization and lifting during rescue missions.

The company's standard-duty equipment includes adjustable stabilization struts and jackstands, which are used to support vehicles during rescue activities.

Vehicle stabilization was a key component of extrication efforts because crews needed to manage vehicle movement both before and during patient removal.

The hands-on training allowed firefighters to practice equipment placement and teamwork in a controlled environment.

New Hampshire's Division of Fire Standards and Training and Emergency Medical Services provides various technical rescue courses, such as vehicle emergency response training and other specialized rescue programs.

The state also requires career firefighters to complete accredited fire training that meets national professional standards.
