Antrim Department Observed 9/11 With a Remembrance

Antrim, NH — September 11 — Antrim Fire & Ambulance honored September 11 by remembering the civilians and emergency workers who were tragically affected by the 2001 attacks. This day holds special significance for the fire and EMS community, especially because many emergency personnel lost their lives while trying to help at the World Trade Center. According to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, 441 first responders from over 30 agencies perished on that day. These responders included 343 firefighters from the Fire Department of New York, 37 officers from the Port Authority Police, and 23 officers from the New York Police Department.

The response to the attacks involved nearly 1,000 firefighters, more than 2,000 police officers, and over 100 ambulances at the World Trade Center.

Many of these responders entered the buildings to help civilians and assist with evacuations.

Antrim Fire & Ambulance continued to offer fire and emergency medical services to the community from its station on Clinton Road.

The September 11 remembrance helped connect Antrim’s local fire and EMS services with the wider emergency services community.

It acknowledged the bravery of those who responded, the loss of lives, and the ongoing efforts to support recovery and healing.
