Durham Firefighters Conduct Realistic Training at UNH

On September 12, 2026, firefighters used the University of New Hampshire campus in Durham, New Hampshire, to conduct a hands-on training session, taking advantage of the campus’s existing buildings for the exercise.
The training gave crews exposure to realistic conditions that are hard to replicate in a classroom or traditional training environment. Firefighters participated in drills aimed at enhancing their knowledge of older building structures and conditions, as well as refining their operational abilities.
The training was coordinated with the University of New Hampshire, and Assistant Chief Robert Atwater and Chris Grover were credited by the department for assisting in organizing the drills. The department also expressed gratitude to the university for providing access to campus buildings for the training.
