Firefighter Completed ICS Training Ahead of Firefighter I Class

Andover, NH — September 3 — Andover Emergency Services member Chris Laquidara completed ICS-100, ICS-200 and IS-700 training as he prepared to begin his Firefighter I class.

Laquidara completed the courses with support from Chief Barton, who set aside several hours during the week to work through the training. The additional coursework was part of Laquidara's preparation for the next stage of his fire service education.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency identifies ICS-100 as an introduction to the Incident Command System and ICS-200 as training for personnel who may take on supervisory responsibilities during an incident. IS-700 introduces the National Incident Management System and its role in coordinating emergency response.

FEMA's NIMS training guidance lists ICS-100 and IS-700 as foundational courses for incident personnel, with ICS-200 providing additional training for personnel with leadership responsibilities.

Andover's fire service has a long-standing volunteer tradition. Town records noted that the Andover and East Andover fire departments combined operations in 2013, creating a larger department serving the community.

Laquidara's completed coursework added to his preparation for Firefighter I training and reflected the continuing education required of volunteer firefighters.
